Pegging

Pegging is a sexual practice during which someone dons a wearable dildo and penetrates their partner.

Colloquially, pegging usually refers to a cis woman penetrating a cis male partner’s anus with a strap-on dildo. The term was coined when it won a contest was held by Dan Savage and his "Savage Love" sex advice column to come up with a name for this particular act. 

However less common, it could be used to refer to someone of any gender wearing a strap-on dildo with which to penetrate their partner. Other similar terms include “strapping" or simply “strap-on sex.”

Styles of Strap-Ons

There are two main ways a strap-on dildo can be worn: with or without a harness. 

Harnessed strap-ons

A harnessed strap-on is one which requires a harness to attach or “strap” the dildo to the wearer’s body. This is a two piece system where the harness and dildo are selected separately, although strap-on sets which sell the harness and dildo and together are available. 

- Jock: a 3-strap style harness which loops around the waist and legs and leaves the wearer exposed for more stimulation

- Thong: a 2-strap style harness, where one strap loops wraps around the wearer’s waist and one tucks between their legs. The middle strap covers the crotch region but can provide friction stimulation to the wearer, or be used to tuck a vibrator in place.

- Corset: a type of harness that cinches and hugs around the wearer’s hips, which can be adjusted by adjustable straps and/or the corset laces.

- Underwear or Lingerie: a style of harness that fits like underwear and has a mount for a dildo on the area covering the pubic area. Due to the underwear-like nature of this style and materials used, it typically cannot be adjusted. 

Strapless Strap-Ons

A strapless strap-on style of strap-on dildo which does not require a harness. One end of the toy is fashioned to be inserted into the wearer’s vagina. It is held in place by their vaginal and pelvic floor muscles. 

Some strapless strap-on dildos have vibrating functionality, providing stimulation for both the wearer and the receptive partner. Where vibrations are not built in, a vibrating cocking can be worn to provide this style of enhanced stimulation.

Anal Stimulation and the P-Spot

While anal play in cis men is commonly conflated with homosexuality, engaging in and/or enjoying being annals penetrated cannot indicate or assign one's sexual orientation. Anyone can participate in and has the potential to take pleasure in anal penetration, regardless of their gender or sexual orientation or that of their partner, as long as all parties are consenting.

For individuals with a prostate gland, anal penetration makes it easier to reach and stimulate the prostate, also sometimes known as the P-Spot, which is typically found roughly two inches inside the rectum, between the rectum and the penis. Stimulation of the prostate is known to produce deep, intense sensations of pleasure and longer-lasting orgasms than through penis stimulation alone.
