The 10 best holiday movies to get you in the Christmas spirit
'Tis the season for cozy nights in watching movies and drinking hot cocoa - spiked of course! Opt for your regular roster of comfort movies or embrace the holiday spirit with one (or all) of our fave festive films.
Here are the top 10 Christmas movies to watch this season, according to the Bellesa community.
10. Just Friends
There's no denying this movie is a little too goofy, but Ryan Reynolds' rendition of I Swear is iconic.
9. Die Hard
This is your dad and boyfriend's favourite holiday movie, even if they have nothing in common at least they'll agree on this. This is the most valuable tool in difusing awkward family time. Or if you come from a normal family then just watch and enjoy :)
8. It's a Wonderful Life
A true classic, if you need a feel good something to have on the TV while baking cookies (or some other wholesome activity) this is for you.
7. Harry Potter
Not enough of you voted for this which is honestly criminal. I'm in the midst of my annual rewatch and I can confirm that only the first one gives christmas vibes, but once you've watched one you must watch them all.
6. Love Actually
Has it aged well? No. Does Hugh Grant dancing still put a smile on my face? Sure does. I also guarantee your mom loves this movie and is going to make you watch it.
5. The Nightmare Before Christmas
If you like your christmas movies with a hint of Halloween then look no further... Kind of a niche holiday vibe, but I respect it.
4. The Grinch
Every year I realize more and more that I am The Grinch. Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas, but I'm generally grumpy and would rather hang out in my bed with my dog (emerging only for meals and gifts).
Special shoutout to those of you who voted for the original cartoon version.
3. Elf
Highly quotabel and highly entertaining. Honestly, I tend to black out partway through when Buddy suddenly has an engineering degree and has to fix the sleigh, but other than that it slaps.
2. The Holiday
Don't we all want to escape the BS in a cute British countryside cottage with Jude Law? There's no way it's just me...
1. Home Alone
Duh! A gloriously nostalgic film that has all millennilas wondering how many feet pics one would have to sell on OF to afford that house + christmas in paris... I literally just need a trip for 1, not even 17.
Whether you're looking for the perfect flick for a cozy night in with your significant other, or cuddled in your bed hiding from bad weather, there's something on this list for everyone!
Merry Christmas you filthy animals! 🎄
